Science in the Kitchen Kit

Transform your very own kitchen into a fun science lab! This Consumer Chemistry: Science in the Kitchen Kit uses several scientific techniques and science activities to engage and educate students as young as 12 years old.

Built around common kitchen items, this food science kit uses fun activities and kitchen science experiments to give kids entirely new ways to look at food. Doing science has never been more deliciously educational!

Using this Science in the Kitchen kit, students will:

• perform chromatography on commercial food coloring
• use chemical reactions and tests to identify an unknown cooking ingredient
• examine the protein-digesting ability of a common meat tenderizing enzyme
• use titration to quantify vitamin C levels 
• test an unknown juice or soda (provided by you)
• compare and contrast various clean-up materials (hand soap, dish soap, and dishwashing detergent)

Using the chemicals and supplies included in this kit, DIY kitchen science projects are now easier than ever. The engaging, yet simple science experiments and STEM activities inside allow kids to explore a number of scientific concepts in a new and memorable setting.

From Aldon's Innovating Science line, this Science in the Kitchen kit contains enough materials for 5 groups students - either in a classroom or homeschool co-op setting. Teacher’s Manual and Student Study Guide copymasters are included.

All you need to provide (or purchase separately) is distilled water, a 500 mL beaker, metric rulers, juice, a test tube rack, and several optional items.
