This presumptive gunshot residue kit offers a two-part test to determine whether a surface has been exposed to a discharged firearm. A rapid color change takes place to verify the presence of nitrates (first) and lead (second).
Gunshot residue (GSR) deposits on the hands and clothing of someone who discharges a firearm. GSR can also travel 3-5 feet from the gun. Testing a person's skin and clothes for GSR can tell you if they were near a gun as it fired.
The Gun Shot Residue Presumptive Test Kit contains instructions and materials for 30 tests. This kit is great for teaching students about forensic science (crime scene science).
You provide distilled or deionized water. Safety gear, specifically gloves, goggles, and apron, are recommended.
