Bacillus Substilis Bacteria - Freeze Dried Culture

Study Bacillus substilis, the intestinal bacteria commonly used in labs, with this live culture. Bacillus substilis is a gram-positive, rod-shaped bacteria.

Each culture arrives in a freeze-dried pellet and comes with rehydrating broth, an agar slant, sterile swab and instructions for use. After rehydration, the culture can be transferred with an inoculating needle.

This kit includes an B. subtilis sample. Review the following information about the sample for best experience with this kit.

Refrigeration: While the culture can sit out for 3-4 weeks, it is best to get the culture into the refrigerator as soon as it is received. Do not store in freezer.

Growth Time: B. subtilis cells double in approximately 30 minutes, with an incubation time of 14 hours.

Appearance: B. subtilis cells are approximately 2-6 micrometers in length and less than 1 micrometer in diameter. When grown on a petri dish, B. subtilis appear rough and fuzzy with jagged edges. They are either opaque, white, or slightly yellow in color.

Growth Conditions:Optimal growth occurs at a temperature range of 30-35°C (86-95°F).
