Cold, Flu, or Allergy Kit

Become a doctor with this Cold, Flu, or Allergy Kit! Diagnose and treat your fictitious patients who may have a cold, the flu, or common seasonal allergies.

The common cold, influenza (the flu), and seasonal allergies all have similar symptoms - but they should be treated differently. In this interactive Biology lab, you have 3 patients who have come in with symptoms that could be related to one of these three conditions.

Using hands-on, simulated flu tests and (simulated) swabs from your patients, you'll first determine which patients (if any) have the flu. With that information, you will then review each of their symptoms, provide a diagnosis, and determine a treatment. But to determine a treatment, you'll need to read the included over-the-counter (OTC) medicine labels and align the active ingredients with your patients' diagnoses. We know you'll be a great doctor and have fun doing it!

Each kit comes with a detailed teacher's guide and a complete student worksheet. Aside from a pair of safety goggles, all supplies needed to conduct the hands-on activities are included. No specialized lab equipment is required - making this kit a perfect learning activity for all types of schools and homes.

Time to complete: 2 - 3 Class Periods (about 40 minutes each)
