Restless Rocks Kit

Uncover relationships between earthquakes, volcanoes, and island formation. 

Restless Rocks is a Launch level Science Unlocked kit that includes a full-color Student Workbook and detailed Teacher Guide, with step-by-step instructions for both hands-on and reading-based activities. This kit contains activities and information designed to engage students in the movement of Earth's tectonic plates. Both teacher and student will be able to open the box and start within minutes. 

As part of a special program from Home Science Tools, this Launch level kit will provide over 15 hours of engaging learning.

In this kit, the student will engage in the following hands-on learning experiences:

1. Model the seafloor and its movement over time. 
2. Uncover the movement of Earth's plates. 
3. Discover Earth's layers and how they relate to natural events. 
4. Learn about why the earth shakes. 
5. Work through plotting points and mathematics to uncover more about Earth's interior and plate tectonics.

Use “Restless Rocks” to answer questions such as:

• What can we learn about when Earth shakes?
• Why do earthquakes happen?
• How do islands form?
• Where does lava come from?
